The IATF 16949:2016 draft has been circulated to the Certification Bodies and Key Suppliers in the Automotive Industry. 89% of the reviewers rated the first revision changes as good or excellent. Overall, there are 106 additional sub clauses in the IATF 16949:2016 draft. The clause that is most affected is Clause 8 with 59 additional sub clauses. These changes will drive the need for process improvements including implementation of CQI-14 Automotive Warranty Management Guideline and CQI-19 Supplier Sub-tier Management. There are also many small and big changes in addition to the changes already in ISO 9001:2015. You can expect that the new standard will be published in the fourth quarter of 2016. The deadline for implementing IATF 16949:2016 is 14th Sept, 2018. This is the same deadline as ISO 9001:2015 and gives Automotive organizations a little less than 24 months to implement the standard.
