Prepare for ISO 9001:2015 - Live Event

Webinar Title: Prepare for ISO 9001:2015 - Make sure your voice is heard! (Live Event)

ISO 9001 is the quality management system standard that forms the base requirements for many other standards that are now being required around the world. It is now being revised with a target release of 2015. There is one more opportunity to provide comments that might make a difference in the final version. However the standards writers require that any comments submitted be on the official template.

In a live event in Ann Arbor, Michigan on June 27 2014. Dan Reid Omnex Director of Consulting and a member of the US Technical Advisory Group for the Quality Management System documents, will provide an update on the major changes to expect in the revised standard. The meeting will be limited to the first 30 participants. The presentation will also be available as a live stream on the web. Event participants will also have an opportunity to generate comments on the final draft version using the ISO-approved process to ensure that your feedback will be considered.

Why should you participate in the event?

The next revision will use a new ISO mandatory clause structure with some common text that introduces new terms and deletes many current terms. The last draft of the proposed revision, ISO 9001:2015 CD1 received over 1400 comments from the USA alone. The USA voted against proceeding to the final draft stage given the number of concerns but lost the International vote. The final draft version was just made available for purchase to review and comment. There will be one final comment period with feedback due on July 15 to the USA delegation.

The USA delegation:

  • Believes that Clause 4.1, 4.2 and 4.3 requirements are not clear enough for users to achieve conformity without significant study and/or consulting, an apparent violation of the ISO9001:12015 design specification;
  • Disagrees with the decision to raise the generic level of the standard by removing current requirements, e.g. measuring/monitoring devices to be more applicable to services, given that there are over one million current users, primary from manufacturing sectors;
  • Believes there is less compatibility between current draft standards on ISO14001 and ISO9001 than with current documents, e.g. ISO 14001 uses “compliance obligations” while ISO 9001 uses “statutory and regulatory requirements”.

For those attending the live event, Dan and other staff from Omnex will be on hand to guide you through the commenting process. As there are specific requirements and template that must be followed, this will ensure that your important comments are not rejected by the USA delegation upon submission.

What Should I Do Next?

  • Procure a copy of the ISO9001:2015 DIS for use in the webinar or meeting. NO copies will be made available at the event. A copy of the presentation slides and the ISO comments template file will be made available to participants after registration. Purchase the DIS standard at the ANSI website: http://webstore.ansi.org/RecordDetail.aspx?sku=ISO%2fDIS+9001
