Globally, there are over 68,000 organizations certified to ISO/TS 16949:2009 that will need to undergo a transition audit to IATF 16949:2016. ISO 13485 Webinar ? Update to Revision Status
ISO 13485, the international medical device quality management system standard with requirements for regulatory purposes is undergoing its first international revision since 2003. There have been issues that resulted in the first draft being disapproved by the ISO member bodies. The standard writers have indicated that the proposed changes are not that significant, however, the revised standard now has around 28% more pages! The revision now considers software as a Medical Device (SaMD) and has added requirements as a result.

The medical device sector of ISO has elected to revise their International Quality Management System Standard, ISO 13485. The first draft of the revision was balloted, concluding in July. It was not approved! A second draft (DIS 2) has been prepared and is now being balloted within the ISO community.
