Online Webinar: Update on Statistical Process Control (SPC) Second Edition

Ford, GM, and DCX released the second edition of their SPC Reference manual in August 2005. The foreword of the new manual states, "This second edition was prepared to recognize the needs and changes within the automotive industry in SPC techniques that have evolved since the original manual was published in 1991." There are some major changes between the first edition and the second edition of the SPC manual.

Gregory Gruska of Omnex, who has worked on the SPC writing team, will take participants through the key changes found in the second edition. Greg says, "The second edition of the SPC manual takes the user more into of the reality of manufacturing where special conditions affecting processes are often found."

SPC 2nd edition addresses industry misapplication of SPC and helps people with the use of the correct SPC chart, calculation of control limits, calculation of capability, sampling and sample size. Overall, the new SPC manual considers the strategy for process control–how organizations can best control their processes.

This four-hour course will cover:

• Review of SPC Basics and including clarifications
• The Strategic Choices and Decisions for Process Control
• Types of variation and types of charts
• Common industry issues and misapplication
