CTU Day 5: Measurement Systems Analysis (MSA)
Seminar Content
This seminar is designed to provide participants with an understanding of the importance of MSA in controlling and improving the production process and to give students a practical knowledge of using statistical methods in analyzing the measurement system.
This seminar is consistent with the AIAG - DCX, Ford GM manual Measurement Systems Analysis, 3rd edition.
Who Should Attend
- Quality Managers
- Quality System and Lab Technicians
- Management Representatives
- Internal Auditors who audit MSA
- Persons responsible for planning, using and maintaining measurement systems.
- Engineers and individuals responsible for process improvement.
Recommended Training and/or Experience
Basic math skills
Seminar Materials

Seminar Goals
The goal of this seminar is for participants to be able to define and understand a measurement system and the causes of variation, as well as qualify the sources of variation. Also, to be able to analyze this data to improve the measurement system, design or choose appropriate systems for measurement, data collection and use, and to maintain these measurement systems over the life of the manufacturing process with which they are used.
Seminar Outline
- Introduction to MSA
- Objective of MSA
- Measurement Systems Variation
- Measurement Error
- Accuracy & Precision
- Reference
- Bias
- Linearity
- Stability
