NCQA

The National Center for Quality Assurance (NCQA) was formed in 1990 with a goal of transforming health care quality through measurement, transparency and accountability.

The organization accredits numerous types of commercial and governmental health plans, including HMOs, Medicaid health plans, Physician Organizations, and PPOs. It uses the Health Plan Data and Information Set (HEDIS®) to measure performance of health plans, and publishes its summary reports for consumer and employer use.
