ISO 9001:2000 Internal Auditor Training for the Automotive Sector (ISO/TS 16949:2002)

Seminar Content

This is an entry-level course for internal auditors in the automotive sector. This class assumes that the student has little or no knowledge in the ISO/TS 16949:2002 specification and, accordingly, includes one day on the requirements of ISO/TS 16949:2002. The first day of class examines over 50 case studies in nonconformity identification, helping students learn the standard by applying it in a wide variety of scenarios.

The following two days of the class incorporate all of the requirements of ISO 19011:2002, while teaching students how to prepare for and perform process audits. Exercises teach internal auditors the concept and auditing of Customer Oriented Processes, Process analysis (turtle diagrams), assessment of effectiveness in practice how to assess and use performance data in audit planning and the use of audit trails in audit planning. The class employs two audit scenarios with performance indicators, procedures and objective evidence for both planning and performing the audit. The class covers all the requirements for Automotive Sector internal auditors, including planning and conducting opening and closing meetings, writing nonconformities and preparing the audit report. Particular emphasis is placed on closing out nonconformities.

An (optional) fourth day may be added to cover Customer-Specific Requirements and, in particular, the five AIAG reference manuals (APQP, MSA, SPC, PPAP, and FMEA). (The internal auditor class with the optional fourth day satisfies all GM, DCX, and Ford requirements for internal auditor training.)

Note: Omnex can provide the auditor course and the customer specific requirements for auditors in three days as well. The core tools (APQP, MSA, SPC, PPAP and FMEA) are also taught as a five day course for more in-depth review for auditors and non-auditors.
