Spring 2007 News

Jointly sponsored by AIAG and China Association for Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM), the 2007 "Summit of the Forum on China-US Automotive Supply Chain" (US-China Supply Chain Summit) was held April 23-24, 2007 at the Shanghai International Conference Center in China. Scheduled concurrently with the 12th International Automobile Show in Shanghai, the Summit speakers discussed North American OEM and Tier One supplier expectations and requirements.

As strategic partner on Lean and Six Sigma training with AIAG, Omnex China’s General Manager Michael Xu presented a speech during the conference on the Omnex Lean method - “50/50/20”. The key points of 50/50/20 methodology is to achieve 50% increase of productivity, 50% reduction of inventory and 20% operational cost within 6 months. In order to compete in the hot automotive market, the cost reduction is key to maintaining competitive advantage among automotive component suppliers and OEMs in China. Omnex’s Breakaway Lean methodology presents a practical way to get low-hanging fruit from current processes.

Omnex China’s work with AIAG on the Chongqing gap analysis project was featured in an article found in the March/April 2007 issue of Actionline. Michael Xu was quoted as saying that "the Chongqing area has many well-organized suppliers willing to learn and be qualified to move into the world-class arena."
