
Omnex Chairs panel discussion in Singapore MAXA award
This high profile panel discussion was conducted as a part of the Singapore Manufacturing
Excellence Award function (MAXA) that emphasizes Productivity improvement for sustaining
and improving the GDP of Singapore. Earlier this year, Singapore’s Economic Strategies
Committee (ESC) established the vision for Singapore to be a distinctive global
city, founded on an innovative economy and highly-skilled people. To achieve this
vision, ESC recommended that Singapore should retain a global competitive manufacturing.
Productivity improvement and manufacturing excellence has now become increasingly
important for companies in Singapore and as a nation, to remain competitive in the
global arena for manufacturing; companies are urged to embrace a robust business
systems combined with newer techniques and practices of manufacturing and innovation.

The panellists included Mr. Raja Pillai, Managing Director of Omnex Singapore, Dr.

Corporate Auditor), Lord Professor Kumar Bhattacharyya , Professor, University of
Warwick, Mr. Alberto Tureikis, Director of South and South East Asia Supply Chain,
Tetra Pak and Mr. Tong Chong Heong ,CEO of Keppel Offshore & Marine.
The panel discussed various issues starting from how MNCs can help Singapore SMEs
upgrade capabilities and improve processes through partnerships, how companies can
put in place a sustainable system to drive continuous improvement in productivity
and how Innovation and Talent Development can be used as key engines to drive productivity
improvement in the current business environment.
